About Us

The Glass Group was formed by a group of glass industry professionals to develop the necessary software tools and technology that would allow the Glass Industry to utilize Internet communications technology in an effort to reduce supply chain management costs for all industry participants.

The Glasslink Process is a system of software tools designed to allow glass dealers to transmit orders directly to their fabricator / distributor suppliers electronically and receive confirmations and invoices within the same system. The Glasslink system has the potential to eliminate 90% of the cost of the present paper based method of processing orders and invoices.

Company Philosophy

The Board of Directors of Glass Group, Inc. strives to be a credit to to the flat glass industry by:

1.  Producing  products and services that consumers have confidence in, thus building a good reputation.

2.  Dealing honestly, openly, and fairly with all people, customers, employees, and the general public.

3. Employing people who are honest and hard working.

4. Meeting out obligations to society, community and government.

5. Developing relationships with customers, employees and suppliers that become more valuable with time.

6. On money matters:

  - Price competitively and reasonably

  - Compensate fairly

  - Return shareholders 20% on beginning year equity

  - Feel comfortable with any action, if such action were shared publically

 

Bios

WAYNE HARDING JR., CHAIRMAN and C.E.O.
Wayne Harding Jr.'s father, W.E. Harding Sr., and his grandfather, C.H. Harding were manufacturers of window glass in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. In 1918 they built their plant and called it Harding Glass Company.

Mr. Harding Jr., was trained as a naval fighter pilot in WWII, after which he became a civilian test pilot for Chance Vought Aircraft. As the mortality rate of Vought pilots reached four out of nine, Wayne Harding Sr., bought Acme Glass Company in Topeka, Kansas in 1947 and partnered with Wayne Harding Jr., in 1948 to form Harding Glass Industries (HGI) with Wayne Harding Jr., becoming President and CEO in 1950. By 1965 HGI had grown to 53 operations in 8 states. Wayne Harding Jr., served the flat glass industry as president, then chairman of the Flat Glass Marketing Association (FGMA), and represented his industry at Senate Hearings on Small Business and U.S. Tariff Commission Hearings in Washington, D.C., for which he received the Thompson Award of Merit.

Harding Glass Industries was sold to the Sun Company (NYSE) in 1978 and continues today as part of one of the largest chain of glass operations in the United States, ACI. Mr. Harding Jr. has co-founded other companies including Harding Steel, Inc. (www.HardingSteel.com) in 1968, through which he helped establish a new industry: Mechanical Parking.

LES LAW, SECRETARY, PRESIDENT
Les Law entered the glass business in 1960 as a draftsman for the contract glazing department of McMurty Mfg. In Denver, CO. The ensuing years saw Mr. Law divide his time between his work in the glass industry and furthering his education until he received a B.A. with majors in Business Administration and Religion and a double minor in Accounting and Economics from Westmar College, LeMars, Iowa. In 1965 he and his wife, Hope, were teachers in a mission school in Sierra Leone, West Africa, of which Mr. Law was also Treasurer. In 1968 he and his wife came back to this country and he returned to the glass industry as a draftsman and estimator for the then three year old Denver company Metropolitan Glass. In 1972 Mr. Law became part owner of Metropolitan Glass, then President, the position he currently holds. Mr. Law is one of the most respected glass men in the Rocky Mountain Region, having knowledge, learned from experience, in estimating, project management, human resources, financial planning and strategic planning. He was one of the founding members of the Colorado Glazing Contractors Association and played a major role in its early years of development. He also is active in the Association of General Contractors of Colorado (AGC/C), having completed a two year term as Co-Chairperson of the Sub Contractor Relations Committee.

In 1995 Mr. Law was included in the International Who's Who of Business. Mr. Law has served several terms as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Evanston United Methodist Church, Chairperson of their Board's Child Care program, member of their Board of Trustees Rocky Mountain Conference and has been on their various local and regional church committees. His other interests are backpacking, hiking (14,000 foot peaks of Colorado), skiing and international travel.

WAYNE HARDING III, DIRECTOR
Wayne Harding is the Vice President of Business Development for Rivet Software. Previously, he was the CEO for AccTrak21's USA, a business software company. He oversaw the introduction of AccTrak21 products into the US market which included the signing of a large distributor projected to produce multi-million dollar annual sales of AccTrak21 products. He holds an active CPA license in Colorado and is also a CITP (Certified Information Technology Professional) and is a past president of the Colorado Society of CPAs. Prior to AccTrak21, Mr. Harding served as a senior director with CPA2Biz and as a vice president with Great Plains from 1989 - 2000. His past employment includes his own CPA firm, KPMG and Deloitte & Touche. He received a B.S. in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Denver. Mr. Harding is the recipient of the prestigious AICPA Special Recognition Award for his involvement in the XBRL project. He also serves on the AICPA Council. Mr. Harding's articles are published in numerous professional journals, magazines, and newspapers including the Journal of Accountancy, Accounting Technology, and P C Magazine.

GARY SMITH, DIRECTOR
Mr. Gary Smith, 48, is the son of Donald L Smith, co-founder of Metropolitan Glass, Inc., Denver, Colorado. He has spent his entire adult life in the glass industry. In 1992 he was elected vice present of Metropolitan Glass, which is one of the five largest commercial glazing operations in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Mr. Smith was elected a member of the Board of Directors of Glass Group, Inc in 2000. He also has served, since 1997, on the board of XS&L, an equipment leasing company in Denver. He has been affiliated with Colorado Glazing Contractors Association since 1994.

Mr. Smith graduated from Western State College in 1976 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He is single and has a daughter, 19, and a son, 16.
